Therapy is a chance to truly know yourself and must be done in a safe, respectful environment in a trusting relationship. Here is a little information about me to help you decide about your therapy.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and have worked in private practice in Madera, Clovis and Fresno for the past nine years. I attended California State University, Fresno, and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology. After several years of working from home and raising children, I returned to school to earn a Master of Science Degree at CSUF in Marriage, Family and Child Counseling. I am licensed with the State of California (License #35699).
After receiving my degree at CSUF, I worked as an intern in a variety of settings including a high school and several clinics, and received a wide range of experience working with individuals, families, couples, groups and children. I have been active on the local board of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT), and I’m a member of Stepfamily Association of America.
I am married and have five children (his and mine) and three grandchildren (so far!). I enjoy gardening, reading, and travel. Therapy work gives me a chance to learn and grow in my everyday life as well as spiritually, as I always receive from my clients at the same time as giving my full attention.
I have long had a special interest in working with stepfamilies after having done research and training in this area and raising a stepfamily of my own. I also has a special place in my heart for working with adolescents and victims of abuse.
In addition, I enjoy working from a holistic perspective, integrating mental, emotional, physical and spiritual aspects of the self. I have been certified as a Certified Master Clinical Hypnotherapist, and I often use hypnosis, imagery, sandtray work, and artwork to help access those parts of ourselves beneath our conscious awareness.
I am contracted as a provider with Cigna, PacifiCare, United Behavioral Health, US Behavioral Health, Blue Shield, Avante Behavioral Health, College Health IPA, Managed Health Network, Tricare, Madera County MediCal, and several EAP companies. I also offer a sliding scale of fees based on income and need.
