Eleven years ago, I found out first-hand how healing bodywork can be in times of stress, illness and exhaustion from everyday dealings in the workplace and the world. I become sick with an unknown illness (or so the doctors told me) and could not get better. The day came when I finally went to someone to help me, through massage, energy healing and herbs – I have been on a path of wellness ever since. I have walked away from a 19 year career in business to become a Certified Shiatsu Therapist and Reiki Practitioner, in order to share my knowledge and experience of healing and well-being with others. Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique that promotes deep relaxation and stress reduction, so that the body can heal through steady energy flow throughout the body. It can clear the chakras, to further create a strong base for the body to function properly. The chakras are the energy centers in the body that assist in the flow to keep a person grounded and healthy. Uninterrupted energy flow is necessary for causing good health – the flow is harmed through negative thought patterns, illness and extreme stress. Regular Reiki sessions can be beneficial to pain management, disease and everyday well-being. Reiki is performed hands on or just above the body while the client is fully clothed. Reiki can also be done on animals, children and babies; and is an excellent treat for a mother after childbirth, and post-surgery balancing.
Shiatsu is a massage technique that focuses on the meridian lines of the body, which are connected to every major organ and give direction to the flow of energy in the body. It balances the energy in the entire body, which in turn lends the body the innate ability to heal itself. Regular Shiatsu massages can help prevent disease and maintain health by balancing and unblocking the flow of energy in the meridians. Shiatsu can increase flexibility, reduce stress, improve blood circulation and help in the release of toxins from the body. It is a deep massage in which the practitioner utilizes thumbs, palms and sometimes elbows. Essential oils can be used to assist in grounding or clearing problematic areas. Shiatsu is not recommended on recent injuries or surgery sites.
